First Round Ready

Before you ever meet the hiring manager, you have to get through me.

Practice your first-round screen with the recruiter who's been running them since 1999. I'll put you through a realistic interview tailored to your exact job, then give you direct, honest feedback on how a recruiter actually sees you.

Ever wonder why you never made it to an interview with the hiring manager?

Most candidates don't lose the job in the final round. They lose it in the first screen, often without ever knowing why.

HOW IT WORKS

Five steps from nervous to ready

01.
Book and send your materials

Choose phone, the most common format for a first-round screen, unless you know yours will be a video call. Then upload your resume and the job description you're targeting.

02.
I prepare your screen

Core screening questions every recruiter asks, plus 3–5 tailored questions built for the role and your background.

03.
Your live mock screen

30–40 minutes, run the way I'd actually run a real first-round call.

04.
Live feedback

About 20 minutes of straight talk: resume fit, how your answers landed, and what a recruiter is thinking.

05.
Your written game plan

Usually the same day, always within 48 hours: a scored summary of each section, plus your top fixes.

Hiring Manager Write-Up

What candidates say

"His observations were things no one had ever pointed out to me before, and they gave me a completely different perspective on how I present myself and communicate during interviews."

Tim went far beyond what I would have expected from a recruiter. I found his feedback invaluable and have already been able to use it to improve.

Questions

Phone or video — which should I pick?
Most first-round screens happen by phone, so that's the most realistic practice. Choose video if your first-round screen is on camera, and add the Video Presence Review for on-camera feedback.

What kind of interview is this?
A first-round recruiter or HR screen — the call that decides whether you move on to the hiring manager. It isn't a technical assessment.

What roles do you work with?
Just about all of them. I've screened candidates from entry level up to senior director, across every part of an organization: technical, engineering, manufacturing, warehouse, data centers, operations, sales, finance, HR and more. For VP and executive roles, candidates often skip the recruiter screen, so this may not be the best fit, but feel free to reach out if you'd like to discuss.

Will you rewrite my resume?
No. You'll get clear, specific feedback on what to change and why. You stay in control of your story.

Do I need a specific job posting?
Yes, but it doesn't have to be a current one. Use a job you're about to interview for, one you interviewed for and didn't advance, or a posting for the type of role you want next.

Is the session recorded?
Yes, with your consent. Sessions may be recorded and transcribed, and AI tools may assist in preparing your written feedback.

I already interviewed and never heard back. Can you help?
Yes. Bring the job posting and we'll replay the screen. I can't tell you what the employer was thinking, but I can show you how a recruiter would likely have seen your resume and answers, and what to change next time.

I've decided who moves forward since 1999. Let's make sure it's you.
